Just trying to get some sunshine

Last Saturday I really wanted to get out and enjoy the sunshine. By the time we all got bundled up it was snowing again. We thought we would hang out at the mall that was closest to our house. It was not very family friendly . There weren't many people there either. As a matter of fact the cleaning lady followed us  every where  we went because of the melting snow that was coming off of our stroller. Talk about awkward.

We stopped and took a few pictures on our way home.

Soon after we left the Metro carving the meltdowns began. We didn't realize it but we were outside for over an hour! When we came home first thing I  was fix everyone a cup of hot chocolate.  Then we had a simple dinner which included  the beautiful strawberries that we bought from a local street vendor for about $9.

So worth it!

Family Work

Let’s get this party started Are you picturing your last late-night party that you danced the night away? I’m not talking about that kind of party. I’m talking about a family work party. Yes raising a family is hard work. But that’s not what I’m talking about either. In our house, Saturday mornings are typically spent cleaning together and listening to the parents' music of choice. Everyone is cleaning. You could call it mandatory family fun. I say this in jest. Cleaning isn’t my favorite thing to do. In all honesty, when I can afford it I pay someone to help me clean the house. So what’s the point? What are we doing? Do I just want to make my children miserable? Faith in Family Life We’ve all heard the African saying, “It takes a village to raise a child. In today's fast-paced world where do we find such a village? Well, the first place to look is our own family. There’s parents, siblings, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins. What if we are far from our families? Then we could turn to our neighbors, schools, and communities. What if they do not share our same values and thinking that we wish to teach our children? Many people have turned to their schools with disappointing results. Who then should we turn to? Our church family! We likely share many of the same values with our church family.
