When I grow up I want to be an Astronaut!

 Guess what we did? We met with Astronaut Sunny Williams!  She met with the embassy community here in Moscow and gave a lovely presentation. She had a meeting last year here but I was unsure that Jacob could handle it. Hurray for second chances! Anyway back to my original thought....

 After she spoke with with us I felt so inspired. It made me think, what do I want to do when I grow up...? But here's the best part. I heard kids in the halls saying when I grow up I want to be an astronaut! Anything is possible.  Her story was inspiring and the little kid in me wanted my photo with the girl Astronaut.

Family Work

Let’s get this party started Are you picturing your last late-night party that you danced the night away? I’m not talking about that kind of party. I’m talking about a family work party. Yes raising a family is hard work. But that’s not what I’m talking about either. In our house, Saturday mornings are typically spent cleaning together and listening to the parents' music of choice. Everyone is cleaning. You could call it mandatory family fun. I say this in jest. Cleaning isn’t my favorite thing to do. In all honesty, when I can afford it I pay someone to help me clean the house. So what’s the point? What are we doing? Do I just want to make my children miserable? No. I know the value of family work. I know that it strengthens my family. It Takes a Village

Faith in Family Life We’ve all heard the African saying, “It takes a village to raise a child. In today's fast-paced world where do we find such a village? Well, the first place to look is our own family. There’s parents, siblings, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins. What if we are far from our families? Then we could turn to our neighbors, schools, and communities. What if they do not share our same values and thinking that we wish to teach our children? Many people have turned to their schools with disappointing results. Who then should we turn to? Our church family! We likely share many of the same values with our church family.
