“Mom let’s go sledding!”

Jacob loves sledding. Jacob is now the only kid at home during the day. I love snuggling my little guy on the couch. But for some reason he is so full of energy. 


“Mom let’s go sledding!” 



 He settles for me watching him sled.


I also love getting some sunshine in during the winter. We call it sun points. We try and let the sun touch us and then yell, “sun points!” It’s our silly little game but these are the little things that are special. 
They are only ours.


I'm starting to like this whole just one at home thing. 


It was so much harder in Moscow. We lived right across the street from the childcare center. He would watch all of the other kids playing and want to join in. Now we have Mommy School at home, just the two of us. I am really going to miss this time. Thinking back our time in Moscow was special too. It’s not every day that you get to be a teacher in your son’s class. Jacob is the last little Dunson and I find that I enjoy my time so much more with him. I wish I had this patience and understanding when our other children were younger. I guess that’s a benefit of time and maturity. Well...I don't think it's too late.
 My oldest is only ten :)

Family Work

Let’s get this party started Are you picturing your last late-night party that you danced the night away? I’m not talking about that kind of party. I’m talking about a family work party. Yes raising a family is hard work. But that’s not what I’m talking about either. In our house, Saturday mornings are typically spent cleaning together and listening to the parents' music of choice. Everyone is cleaning. You could call it mandatory family fun. I say this in jest. Cleaning isn’t my favorite thing to do. In all honesty, when I can afford it I pay someone to help me clean the house. So what’s the point? What are we doing? Do I just want to make my children miserable? It Takes a Village

Faith in Family Life We’ve all heard the African saying, “It takes a village to raise a child. In today's fast-paced world where do we find such a village? Well, the first place to look is our own family. There’s parents, siblings, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins. What if we are far from our families? Then we could turn to our neighbors, schools, and communities. What if they do not share our same values and thinking that we wish to teach our children? Many people have turned to their schools with disappointing results. Who then should we turn to? Our church family! We likely share many of the same values with our church family.
